Having nine years industrial experience and 14 years teaching experience, Prof. K.Velmurugarajan has been associating with Alliance University since 2014 in the department of Aerospace Engineering. He obtained a B.Sc., degree in Physics from NMSSVN College, Madurai, affiliated to Kamaraj University. He obtained a B.Tech., degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Madras and completed an M.E., in Aeronautical Engineering from Sathyabama University, Chennai. He worked with M/s.Enmas Process Technologies Ltd., Chennai as a Senior Engineer for around nine years and during that period he was a member of the Indian Institute of Materials Management.
Right from the beginning of his academic career, Prof. Velmurugarajan was interested in structural analysis and was handling subjects like Engineering Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Aircraft Structures, Composite Materials & Structures, etc., and also subjects like Space Flight stability & Control, Spacecraft Navigation & Guidance, etc., in the space field. He is a life time member of the Aeronautical Society of India. He has been pursuing doctoral program from Karpagam University, Coimbatore. Since analyzing the various loads acting on the structural components and how those components getting stressed are the major focus in structural analysis and selection of suitable material for those components is equally important by the thorough study of material properties and invention of new materials to withstand thermal and structural loads are parallel requirements, he has been doing research in basalt fiber reinforced composites to analyze its properties and to utilize it to fabricate aircraft and spacecraft structural components.
